On 10 August, Yelp added reservations and waitlist directly into ChatGPT. People can now book a table or join a waitlist through Yelp without leaving their chat. This builds on the deal announced in July, where Yelp licensed reviews, photos and other business information to OpenAI so ChatGPT could answer local recommendation questions.
This is not a distant shift. This is happening now. Someone asking an AI assistant where to eat can now read your reviews, see your photos, and book a table in the same conversation. If you run a restaurant, cafe, or any service business with bookings, this changes where your next customer might come from.
The question is not whether you show up
The partnership is an acknowledgment that chatbots are increasingly taking market share from traditional search as people ask questions differently. They are not typing "best Thai Brisbane". They are asking "where should I take my parents for dinner on Friday night".
If you have a Yelp profile and it is connected to a reservations system, you are already in ChatGPT. The integration surfaces Yelp’s trusted reviews, ratings, photos, and business details directly within the chat experience. The question is not whether you show up. The question is what shows up when you do.

What to check right now
If you take bookings and have any presence on Yelp, Google, or any other review platform that might feed AI models, audit your listings this week. Do this:
It is not just restaurants
Yelp’s "Request a Quote" feature will also be added soon, allowing ChatGPT users to contact local service providers for quotes directly through the large language model. If you are a tradie, a cleaner, a salon, a physio, this applies to you too. The path from "I need a plumber in Paddington" to a direct quote request is getting shorter and it is all happening inside a chat interface.
You do not need to do anything complicated. You need to make sure the basics are right, the information is current, and your reviews reflect the business you run today. That work has always mattered. Now it matters in more places.
